I was just looking to see if my old karate school in Waterloo was still in Business. My Mother still lives in Waterloo and I stay with her in the summer time for several weeks, I use to study Karate in the summer of 1986 at the Iowa Karate center Tang Soo Do school under Steve Voshell when I was much younger, I have a residence in Farmington Minnesota and Recently I enrolled my Daughter into a local Shaolin Kung fu program. The Kung Fu instructor in Minnesota is the same Steve Voshell who was my old teacher from Waterloo, What a small world we live in. He was as suprised as I was. I am now thinking about training again in my middle years of life..Daughter and Mother Kung Fu Bonding...I love the Thought .

Waterloo Tang Soo Do and the Iowa Health center were Cool traditional schools. I studied some of the material of Tang Soo do and the basic concepts of Yi Li Chuan internal Kung Fu when Steve Voshell was teaching the art in Waterloo Iowa and also training in Cedar Rapids with Master Starr. If I remember Correctly , Larry Garrison , Steven Decker and Steven Voshell were all Black Belts and trained all the time. This is a good martial art to study. I would train with this art again and Decker must be still teaching in Waterloo but I can not find this school by the address, I drove around and it is residential. I sure wish I could find Larry Garrison and Steve Voshell again. I bet they are still training. Last I heard they both were in Minnesota continuing there art. Peace to all three of them. GD

I recently attended a Tang Soo Do/Moo Duk Kwan dojo under the tutelage of Master Steve Decker. I really appreciated how he took the cultural fighting art and explained its application to defend yourself in daily life. i’d have to give it 5 stars. *****
He now provides his classes free of cost at a middle school in Cedar Falls IA during the evenings.

He was formerly associated with the World Tang Soo Do and still follows all of their guidelines still so that if one wanted to transfer to another state or such, they would be on the same page.

Other than that I read a lot and try to get any info from videos. I’m currently reading Martial Mechanics, which explains how to use the body for martial applications. I recommend reading this to anybody, new or experienced.
